2016 World Beef Expo Results

Nearly 70 head of Hereford cattle were exhibited at this year’s World Beef Expo Show on Friday, September 23rd at Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in West Allis. Hereford breeders from six states participated in this year’s show. States represented were Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, and North Dakota. Shane Lindsay was the Hereford judge.

2016 Wisconsin State Fair Results

Grand Champion Hereford Bull and Supreme Champion Bull over all breeds — PHH PCC 040 WONDER 428 a 2/7/14 son of SHF Wonder M326 W18 ET. Bred and owned by Pierce’s Hereford Haven.

Grand Champion Hereford Female and Reserve Supreme Champion Female — Wildcat NextGen Athena 4107ET a 3/18/2014 daughter of GO 3196 Advance S109. Bred by Star Lake Cattle Company and owned by Wildcat Cattle Company.

Wisconsin had 166 head of cattle and 94 exhibitors to the “Hereford Scene 2016” Junior National Hereford Expo, Madison, WI, July 9 – July 15.

2016 Spring Sale Results

Over 90 bidders showed up to participate in the 2016 WHA Spring State Sale held at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Lancaster March 5th. Consignors offered 40 head of bulls, cow-calf pair, bred heifers, and open heifers at this year’s event.

Topping the bull sale was MGM Trust Line 754 36B, a November yearling Trust son. He was consigned by Merry Polled Herefords, Hartford, and sold to Paul Erickson, Viroqua for $5200. The Merry Family also consigned the second high selling bull,MGM Home Guy 755 37B, a November yearling Hometown son, who was purchased by Kiech Farms, Barneveld for $4500.

BPH 873 Right Achieve Ali 409B, a bred heifer sired by RB 29F 002 Right Now 630S and consigned by Baker’s Polled Herefords, Elkhorn, was the high selling female in the sale. She was purchased by Cheryl Graber, Mineral Point for $4400. C&L Miss Advance 22S 25B, a bred heifer sired by C&L Advantage M326 22S, was consigned by C&L Hereford Ranch, Ixonia, and sold to Pierce’s Hereford Haven, Baraboo, for $4,000.

Cattle were sold into Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Bulls averaged $3,657 and females averaged $2,664. The overall average on 40 lots was $2,837.50. Monte Lowderman, Macomb, was this year’s auctioneer. Caleb Ahrens, Brodhead, managed the sale assisted by Greg Miller, Lancaster, and Mike Sorenson, Iowa.
