While the Junior National Hereford Expo promotes learning aspects of showing cattle and educational activities associated with relative contests, the NJHA's annual PRIDE (Program for Reaching Individuals Determined to Excel) Convention focuses on leadership development. Junior members, parents and advisors from all parts of the country participate in the event each year. During the three-day event, close to 100 participants listen to nationally known speakers and participate in junior board workshops, which assist in the enhancement of the individual's leadership talents, communication skills and beef-industry knowledge.
Typically PRIDE is held at land grant universities, however in 2008 the event traveled to Washington D.C., and participants got to experience our Nation’s capital.
